Free crochet pattern: Easter Chick Baby Hat

This is a pattern I worked up back in 2011 when I had very little experience, limited supplies, and only the camera on my phone.   The pattern is the same just a little revised and row two is [hopefully] explained better.

 Stitches Used in This Pattern:
Half Double Loop Stitch-This is the closest example I have found for how I make my loop stitches. Its a good tutorial and right to the point. http://youtu.be/b_6iHAFwjHQ
Brick Stitch (aka Crazy Stitch)http://crochet.about.com/library/ncrazyst.htm
This hat is worked in a spiral meaning you won’t join at the end of a round, you will just keep crocheting around in a circle until the hat is complete.
To keep track of your rows I recommend placing a marker in the last stitch of row and moving it with each consecutive completed row.
Round 1: Magic circle – 8 hdc (If you don’t know how to do this just ch2 and make 8 hdc in 2nd ch from hook) ( 8 hdc)
Round 2– 1 hdc & 1 half double loop stitch in each stitch around. Your loop will be on the inside of the hat—we’ll fix that later :) *If you know how to make your loops on the front just do that here. (16 stitches)
Round 3– *hdc in next stitch, 2 hdc in next stitch * Repeat from * around (24 stitches)
Round 4– *hdc in next 2 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch * Repeat from * around (32 stitches)
Round 5– *hdc in next 3 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch* Repeat from * around (40 stitches)
Round 6– *hdc in next 9 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch* Repeat from * around (44 stitches)
Rounds 7-12 (or until hat is approximately 5” tall) -hdc in each stitch around (44 stitches)
Brick Stitch Border: *skip 3 stitches, sc in next, chain 3, 3 double crochet in same stitch*. Repeat from * across row. End with: single crochet in next chain.
Weave in ends and fasten off. With your crochet hook gently pull your loop stitches from row 2 to the right side of your hat.
